GrayMatter Teams with Major U.S. County to Lead
5-Year IT/OT Infrastructure Modernization

CHALLENGE

A large U.S. county government tasked GrayMatter with consolidating a wide array of input sources from about 40 sites that provide drinking water treatment, wastewater processing and other services.

The primary objective was to develop a comprehensive 5-year spending plan focused on maintaining or upgrading the county's IT/OT infrastructure.

To be successful, the project had to take into account diverse stakeholder perspectives and address the intricate details of cybersecurity, hardware and software needs.

RESULTS

Identification

Identification of 47 controllers in the ‘Active Mature’ lifecycle stage, providing a clear view of the equipment in need of attention.

SCADA Virtualization

The project also established a path for SCADA virtualization, which will enhance the efficiency of the county's control systems.

Improved Security

The cybersecurity audit’s findings improved security measures and helped to engage stakeholders in highlighting key improvement areas.

Strong Foundation

This strategic approach addresses both the immediate challenges and creates a foundation for the county’s IT/OT infrastructure.
